Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! Native macOS input injection is supported via CoreGraphics (`CGEvent`). PhonePad runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel Macs. macOS requires Accessibility permission for synthetic input — grant permission under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and restart PhonePad.
Yes! PhonePad maps Meta to Command (⌘) and Alt to Option (⌥) on macOS. Custom macro decks allow you to trigger macOS hotkeys like ⌘C, ⌘V, ⌘Z, ⌘Tab, and Xcode or Final Cut shortcuts directly from your phone.
No! PhonePad functions 100% offline. Communication takes place strictly over your local Wi-Fi router (LAN) or directly through a USB cable using ADB reverse port forwarding.
When connected via USB with Android USB Debugging enabled, PhonePad uses ADB reverse tunnel to map port 42800 to loopback (`127.0.0.1`), providing even lower latency than Wi-Fi.
Full mouse & keyboard injection works natively on X11 sessions (via `xdotool` and `XTest`). On Wayland sessions, real-time vector whiteboard drawing and device pairing work fully, while native cursor injection is on the roadmap via portal injection.
Yes! Active Android styluses (e.g. S-Pen, active digitizer pens) pass raw pressure values to the desktop companion, rendering dynamic stroke widths on the PC & Mac whiteboard canvas.
